Michael is a PhD student in the department of Bioinformatics at the University of British Columbia (UBC), under the supervision of Dr. Christopher Carlsten and Dr. Amrit Singh. He completed his undergraduate degree in Microbiology & Immunology in 2022 and is currently interested in computational research involving the effects of diesel exhaust exposure on human health. As a student under the Air Pollution Exposure Laboratory (APEL) and the Computational Biology Lab (CBL), his research aims to determine changes in the transcriptome in response to controlled dosages of air pollution and inhaled corticosteroids in asthmatic adults using single-cell sequencing. Ultimately, his goal is to become a principal investigator to design his own human exposure research study, harmonizing experimental and computational research with clinical design.Â
