Chris Buse

Dr. Chris G. Buse is an assistant professor in environmental health inequities at Simon Fraser University’s Faculty of Health Science, where he is the co-lead for the faculty’s Planetary Health Research Challenge Area and a Michael Smith Health Research BC Scholar. Chris’ interdisciplinary training draws on the social, environmental and public health sciences from leading Canadian universities, including the University of Alberta (BA), the University of British Columbia (MA and PDF), the University of Toronto (PhD), and the University of Northern British Columbia (PDF). His research is focused on the intersection of the social and ecological determinants of health, with two overlapping areas of inquiry: [1] the health impacts of climate change and the public health response, and [2] the cumulative environmental, community and health impacts of resource extraction and development. As the Principal Investigator on BC-REACH (BC Research on Equitable Adaptation to Climate and Health), Chris is implementing a five-year program of research in partnership with BC Health Regions to move evidence on the effectiveness of health equity and climate interventions into action.
