Every cell in your body has an identical genome sequence that encodes all your genes and also the instructions for when and where those genes should be expressed. Mutations in the DNA can alter when and where genes are expressed, resulting in disease. The goal of my research is to to determine how cells interpret DNA sequences so that we can understand how mutations to the DNA sequence alter disease risk, and design DNA sequences with useful activities.
