I am an obstetrician-gynecologist and anthropologist focused on addressing inequities in women’s reproductive care through clinical practice, education, and research. For the past 14 years, my interest in addressing inequities in care, whether in facilities or in the community, has led to several projects in Kenya that aim to enhance maternal and child well-being. My work emphasizes gender-transformative, health promotion strategies that integrate financial empowerment to address intergenerational health inequities. This experience has strengthened my commitment to global health, as I believe equitable access to reproductive care is fundamental to achieving social justice worldwide. Since returning to Canada in 2017, I feel privileged to be working towards these same goals here in British Columbia. I am a mixed-methods researcher with significant experience in human-centered design. I am a community health worker at heart and am committed to advancing novel models of care that make people feel valued and included.
