Amanda Wurz

Dr. Amanda Wurz, PhD (she/her/hers) is an assistant professor in the School of Kinesiology at the University of the Fraser Valley, an affiliated researcher at the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute, and adjunct assistant professor at the University of Calgary. Amanda uses partnered approaches to optimize supportive care and inform effective physical activity opportunities to improve quality of life for individuals affected by cancer (and other chronic conditions) across the lifespan. She is recognized internationally for her expertise and contributions to the fields of pediatric exercise oncology and adolescent and young adult exercise oncology.

Amanda disseminates her work through publications and presentations, and has a strong focus on translating knowledge to end-users. Her research is supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Strategy for Patient Oriented Research Evidence Alliance, Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, Michael Smith Health Research BC, and the University of the Fraser Valley.
