Cultural safety and inclusivity curriculum to change future and current health and exercise professionals’ behaviour related to culturally safe and inclusive care

Limited incentivized opportunities exist for current and future healthcare and fitness providers to receive education on delivering inclusive and culturally safe care. A lack of safe and inclusive care prevents some individuals from entering healthcare and fitness environments and can negatively affect their experience when they do. This pan-Canadian study will examine the effects of implementing a brief online cultural safety and inclusivity module into undergraduate health programs, and fitness and healthcare organizations. This research will provide information on the impacts of a brief cultural safety and inclusivity module on the individuals who take the training and the organizations that adopt the training. This project is led by Dr. Kaela Cranston (BC Principal Investigator), supervised by Dr. Mary Jung and Dharshi Lacey, and is funded by the CBITN-CTTP and Michael Smith Health Research BC Post-Doctoral Fellowship 2024 Award Program.
