Suzanne Gill
Suzanne Gill is a seasoned strategy and corporate development leader with over two decades of experience driving innovation, building high-impact partnerships, and shaping Canada’s life sciences and genomics landscape. As President and CEO of Genome British Columbia from 2022 to 2025, Suzanne led the organization through a transformative period, fostering a purpose-driven culture and securing new partnerships.
Under her leadership, Genome BC became a national leader in precision health and launched pioneering initiatives in Indigenous engagement, sustainable agriculture, and mining innovation. Suzanne’s strategic vision also revitalized key provincial assets and strengthened ties with government, ensuring sustained support despite economic pressures.
Prior to her CEO role, Suzanne was Vice President of Government Relations and Public Affairs at Canada’s Digital Technology Supercluster, where she played a pivotal role in securing $750 million in federal renewal funding and led the development of the organization’s inaugural Capacity Building program. Her earlier tenure at Genome BC included progressively senior roles in corporate development, strategy, and government relations, during which she helped raise over $700 million for genomics research and established foundational performance and accountability frameworks.
Suzanne began her career at the Ontario Genomics Institute, where she was a founding team member and oversaw a $350 million research portfolio during Canada’s initial investments in genomics. She holds an MBA from York University, an MSc and BSc in Agriculture from the University of British Columbia and is currently serving on the board of Life Sciences BC. She has previously served on the boards of Genome BC and Innovate BC.
