Dr. Emmanuel T. Osei is a postdoctoral research fellow in the group of Dr. Tillie Hackett at the Center for Heart Lung Innovation and Department of Anesthesiology Pharmacology and Therapeutics, at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Dr. Osei is a Biomedical Scientist and Cell Biologist who holds a joint-Ph.D. from UBC, Canada and the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. His scientific career has focused on the use of complex 3D in vitro models to understand how abnormal interactions between cells in the lung contribute to diseases such as asthma and COPD.
During his MSFHR funded fellowship, Dr. Osei intends to combine his expertise in developing 3D models with stereological imaging and gene expression analysis of lung tissue to identify new targets for therapy in small airway remodeling in asthma.
