The BC Nurses’ Union (BCNU) protects and advances the health, safety, social and economic well-being of our members, our profession and our communities. We are the largest nursing union in BC, representing more than 48,000 professional nurses and allied health care workers, providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities and in the community. We speak up and speak out for safe, quality, public health care. We value and respect diversity, and pride ourselves in providing protection, representation, and services to all members. To promote evidence-based research for innovation within nursing, BCNU is proud to support research projects that align with the union’s core values of collectivity, democracy, equality, excellence, integrity, social justice, and solidarity.
Mental Health Research Canada (MHRC) is a national, charitable organization that is dedicated to improving the lives of the one in five Canadians — over 7 million people — living with mental illness. We advance mental health research that is problem-solving, cost-effective and usable in the real world, transforming treatments and prevention in creative and collaborative ways. We also consult and partner with other stakeholders, including other mental health organizations, social agencies, entrepreneurs, business and government, to promote knowledge sharing, avoid duplication, and implement best practices.
The Canadian Celiac Association British Columbia is a registered charity that supports people who are affected by celiac disease, dermatitis herpetiformis, and other gluten-related conditions.
Celiac Disease (CD) is a genetic, multi-system, autoimmune disorder where the body reacts to gluten and other prolamines in wheat (e.g. durum, kamut, spelt), rye and barley. Gluten consumption causes damage to the absorptive surface of the small intestine and can result in malnutrition, anemia, nutritional deficiencies and an increased risk of other autoimmune diseases and some cancers of the gut.
Our four priorities are: Promote Evidence Based Solutions; Strengthen Standards; Increase Awareness and Education; and Ensure Financial Sustainability.
