Initiatives

Evidence underpins everything we do at Health Research BC.

We are working to promote understanding of science across different audiences, catalyze science-based approaches in the health system and communities, and contribute to the emerging evidence on both health research systems and learning health systems.

Health research system reports

Health Research BC launched three studies aimed at benefitting BC’s life sciences sector and health research system. These studies offer valuable insights into the province’s health research system, talent development, and clinical trials sector.

Situational analysis of BC's clinical trials ecosystem

Health Research BC commissioned a situational analysis of BC’s clinical trials ecosystem. The report evaluates the current state of the province’s clinical trials ecosystem, compares it with other provinces, and assesses BC’s overall competitiveness in clinical trials.

Research Approvals Processes Project (RAPP)

The Ministry of Health has initiated the Research Approvals Processes Project (RAPP), a provincial commitment to strengthen a research positive culture within the health system. It seeks to address challenges for health researchers through improvements in operational approvals, ethics reviews, contracts and agreements, data access, and privacy reviews.

Long-Term Care Quality Initiative

The Long-Term Care Quality Initiative (LTC-QI) aims to embed research and translate knowledge into evidenced-based best practices in the long-term care (LTC) sector across BC. It is a collaborative partnership between Michael Smith Health Research BC, the Ministry of Health, health authorities, and research and academic communities.
