Dr. Karen Tran is a Clinical Associate Physician and early-career researcher in the Division of General Internal Medicine at UBC. She is a General Internal Medicine physician at Vancouver General Hospital and BC Women’s Hospital. She completed her doctor of medicine (UBC), internal medicine residency (UBC), General Internal Medicine fellowship (UBC), Hypertension and Vascular Medicine training (McGill University), and obtained her Masters of Health Sciences (UBC). She is a certified Clinical Hypertension specialist, co-director of Vancouver General Hospital Hypertension Clinic and serve on national Hypertension Canada Guideline committees. She is passionate about improving hypertension care in Canada through clinical excellence and research. Dr. Tran was awarded Hypertension Canada New Investigator Award 2024 and UBC 2024 Clinical Faculty Award for Excellence in Research-Early Career.
My research program focuses on digital health tools in improving hypertension management, in different patient populations, including pregnant people, and severe hypertension in the Emergency Department (ED). My goal is to develop novel ways to improve hypertension care in Canada.
