Felipe Eltit

Dr. Felipe Eltit Guersetti is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Urologic Sciences at the University of British Columbia, supervised by Dr. Michael Cox at the Vancouver Prostate Centre.

Trained as a dentist in Chile, after seven years of clinical practice, teaching at university level and obtaining a master’s degree in cell biology, he migrated to Canada to pursue doctoral studies in the Department of Materials Engineering under the supervision of Dr. Rizhi Wang. His PhD thesis focused on the cellular mechanisms that explain the failure of orthopaedic implants.

With a strong background in cell biology, histology, materials analysis and clinical practice, Felipe is now focusing his work in the ultrastructural characterization of bone in prostate cancer metastasis in the axial skeleton, and the cellular and molecular mechanism involved in the formation of abnormal bone leading to severe pain and fracture in prostate cancer patients.
