Anna Gottschlich

Dr. Anna Gottschlich, MPH, PhD, is a postdoctoral research fellow leading investigations on long-term cervical outcomes after HPV-testing compared to cytology for cervix screening. Her published research from this postdoc includes results demonstrating that (1) detection rates of precancerous lesions remain low up to ten years after one negative HPV test and (2) long-term cervical outcomes do not differ based on the use of DNA- compared to RNA-based testing assays. She has a strong interest in issues of health disparities and experience with community-based research. In addition to understanding the theoretical impact of different types of screening, her work is aimed at developing policy to ensure optimal health care for women, especially in underserved communities. Towards this end, she collaborates decision-makers to formulate key research questions, design analyses, and disseminate results to appropriate stakeholders, with the goal to provide evidence comparing cytology-based to HPV-based cervical cancer screening, leading to more effective and accessible screening methods, particularly among vulnerable populations.
