Adeera Levin

Dr. Adeera Levin, PhD, is a professor of medicine, head of the Division of Nephrology at the University of British Columbia, and consultant nephrologist with St. Paul’s Hospital. She also serves as the executive director of the BC Renal Agency, a provincial agency responsible for the planning and delivery of health-care services and funding of patients with chronic kidney disease.

Levin is active in national and international initiatives across the spectrum of kidney disease, and, has served in leadership roles at the International Society of Nephrology (ISN), most recently as president from 2015 to 2017.

Levin has received numerous awards for teaching, research and her contribution to the health of Canadians, including the Kidney Foundation of Canada’s Research Medal of Excellence in 2014 when she was also inducted into the Canadian Academy for Health Sciences. In 2015, she received the Aubrey J. Tingle Prize from the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research, and was the recipient of the Order of Canada in recognition of her leadership in the treatment of kidney disease.
